We can help you with questions about our homes and all things local about the area. Let us make your trip amazing! • Beautiful Home with Breathtaking Views of Tennessee River Gorge • Fireplace in master bedroom and living room • Internet with SmartTVs (and DirectTV in the living room) • Decks and screened in porch - all with views! • Game room for lots of fun! About the House: This beautiful home is perfect for a true getaway!  With unbeatable views of the Tennessee River Gorge, you can find ultimate relaxation when looking across the river to a stunning undeveloped gorge. This house is beautifully furnished and well equipped with everything you need for a wonderful vacation.  The well stocked kitchen features beautiful stainless steel appliances and with the dishwasher you can spend more time relaxing and less time cleaning!  The open floor plan of this kitchen and living room give this house lots of natural light. From the living room a sliding glass door opens out onto the deck because this house is designed with the view in mind! The living room features a large flat screen TV with DirectTV and Smart TV, so you can have the comforts of technology during your escape. The best part about the living room is the incredible fireplace that is double sided with the master bedroom. In the master bedroom suite, you can snuggle up and enjoy a fire on cold nights or you can stream your favorite content from the Smart TV with Roku. Also in the suite is a walk in closet and the bathroom has a double sink vanity, step in shower, and separate soaking tub.  When you wake from a peaceful night’s sleep, step outside the sliding glass doors onto the screened in porch to soak in the view and breathe in the fresh air or relax in front of the gas fire pit table with your coffee. The downstairs bedroom includes a little living room of its own with a sofa, Smart TV with Roku, and electric fireplace.  Downstairs there is also a game table that has the ability for mini pool, air hockey, or table tennis, and there’s a dart board too!  From the game room, there is another outdoor space so that you don’t have to miss the view when you are having fun! If you are wanting a peaceful getaway with an amazing view without having to sacrifice amenities, then you have found everything you will need at the River Gorge Retreat! Things to Note: This house is located off the beaten path, which is perfect for a getaway!  There is a 30 minute drive on a two lane road that runs along the Tennessee River to get to the nearest grocery store. This home is 35 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. This house is located next door to another one of our rental properties, so if you have a larger group, you could split up between both homes. (Check out River Overlook for more information). There is a steep driveway down to the house, if conditions are icy or steep driveways make you uncomfortable, there is room to park at the top of the driveway and walk down. There is a long walk down to the dock, should you want to visit the water’s edge.  The trail to the dock is paved, but cannot accommodate a vehicle. The hike back up to the house can be considered strenuous with a 135 foot climb.  The Tennessee River is not recommended for open water swimming because of the fast current and boat traffic. Many people do kayak or paddle board in the area. Children under 12 are not allowed at this home. The televisions in both bedrooms are Smart TV's from which you can stream your favorite shows or movies. The living room TV is the only TV that has DirectTV and Smart TV with Roku. Remember to bring your login info for Netflix, Hulu, etc. ————— We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. We love guests of all types as long as they pay for the use of the property and take good care of that property during their stay. Note: Most of our properties are rural and wooded. Cabin in Chattanooga, TN
2.4 miles from Raccoon Mountain Reserve
Located on over 400 acres of protected natural lands on the banks of the Tennessee River, the Pot Point Cabin was originally built in 1835. The cabin was constructed from hand-hewn logs and planks reclaimed from flat boats wrecked on the “Boiling Pot” rapid on the Tennessee River. In 1993, renovations were made to the original cabin that included a great room with floor to ceiling windows that provide a scenic view of the Tennessee river, an upstairs bathroom with shower, a downstairs wheelchair accessible bathroom, and a small but serviceable kitchen. There are two decks overlooking the river. Across the road up the driveway a bit and to the left, this cabin even has its own Self-Guided Nature Trail. It is a moderately strenuous, 3.5 mile loop trail featuring some steep climbs and reaching over 1,000 feet in altitude around Azalea Point. Along with the recreational experience, hikers will be able to enjoy the rich biodiversity that is found in the Tennessee River Gorge. SPECIAL FEATURES: • Historic log cabin on the Tennessee River built in 1835. • Get away from it all and still have high speed internet and a Smart TV • Deck and great room overlook the Tennessee River. • Part of the Tennessee River Gorge Trust LOCATION: • Located on the Tennessee River Gorge • 30 minutes to Ruby Falls and Rock City • 20 minutes to downtown Chattanooga • Nearby Kayak and Paddleboard Rentals • Next to Trailhead for Pot Point Loop INSIDE: Entry Level • Fully Equipped Kitchen • Great room overlooking the Tennessee River • Dining Table with room for all to gather • Den with a Flat Panel TV with a Roku and DVD Player • Decorational Fireplace (NOT USABLE) • Master Bedroom with King Bed • Full Bathroom • Half Bathroom Upper Level • Full Bathroom • Bedroom with Queen bed and two Twins • Second Bedroom with Queen bed and two Twins OUTSIDE: • Decks Galore! • Charcoal Grill • Outdoor seating • Fire Pit IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE: • Primary responsible renter must be at least 25 years old. • Maximum occupancy of 10 people at all times. • Water at Pot Point is well water and is considered non-potable (Not drinkable). We do however provide a 5 gallon cooler of potable (drinkable) water for our guests. We also recommend that you bring your own drinking water. This property is on a well and sometimes with over use of water the well pump may not keep up and may take several hours to refill the tank. Please use water sparingly. • This property is about 12 miles from downtown, but sometimes feels further because of the slow, narrow, winding river road. The view is fantastic however, and provides a wonderful way to slow down from hectic daily life! • Log cabins have the tendency to leak when it rains very hard.  Every effort is made to avoid this but we have thus far been unable to avoid it.  • We require a photo of your ID and a photo of yourself as well as your signature on our rental agreement to complete your reservation. Even if you make your reservation through AirBnB, HomeAway, etc (instead of directly on our website), we require this. • We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. Beautiful place to take a break, in solitude,...fish, swim, no neighbors next door. Kayak rentals nearby. Just sit on the dock and enjoy the river, the view across the way, stars at night. Enjoy our peaceful woodland cabin in the heart of the Tennessee River Gorge with beautiful views of the river and gorge...Sit by the fire pit and watch the sunset roasting marshmallows or hot dogs...watch the barges, kayaks, and boats go by...or geese, waterfowl, and wildlife. After cooking out on grill...dine out on the spacious screened in porch overlooking the river. Gather together in the evening and play games or cuddling up next to the fire with a book and/or loved one. This is a restful place surrounded by nature with all its beauty. Kayak the river or hike nature trails to the Prentice Cooper State Forest (part of the Cumberland Plateau). Enjoy all this within 30 minutes of downtown Chattanooga to explore. Our 3 bedroom/3 bath (with bunk room and loft) will sleep 14...accommodating family get togethers. We welcome families, children, and pets (although need to be aware it is on the river- so safety for children and pets important).

Cabin (460 sq. ft.) in Chattanooga, TN
2.5 miles from Raccoon Mountain Reserve
Apollonie is one of several quaint, Tiny-home, log homes on a wooded property surrounded by National Park land just a stone throw from the TN River, one mile from South Broad and Ruby Falls at the foot of Lookout Mtn. This wonderful natural setting is nested by the city with quick access to downtown and Lookout. You will enjoy a private furnished back deck and front porch, hot tub, charcoal grill. The actual cabin has a grey exterior. *Pictures of similar cabin with same floor plan* Starting in the back, Apollonie (named after our French Host Daughter), boasts a back deck with Adirondack chairs and your own private hot tub. The Master hosts a queen bed, four closets for hanging clothes, lots of drawer storage and TV. Just out of the master is the washer dryer combo unit on the right and the full bath on the left. A step further we enter the kitchen, full stocked for cooking/dining with an electric range, microwave, stove, full-size fridge, cabinets and a bar. The living room and kitchen are open space with the main TV across from the pull-out sofa. The loft has two twin beds. Clearance in the loft is low, at just 4' - it is a sleep loft, not a stand up and walk around space. This cabin is NOT pet friendly. Additional Information: Before going into just how close this Cabin is to whatever your Chattanooga led heart desires, let us note that Chattanooga has again; for the second time in only 5 years, won Outdoor Magazine's Best Town Ever. There is no other listing so near trails, history, and city and tourist attractions than these gems. The house is exactly one mile from Ruby Falls, 2 miles from Craven's House (which has some great trail heads), 5 miles from Rock City on the GA side of Lookout Mountain and literally a walk to Skyuka Springs trailhead. Skyuka Springs trailhead will connect you to Sunset Rock, Point Park, The Chattanooga Nature Center, even horse trails and bike trails such as the Guild Bike Trail. 2 miles away you will find The Chattanooga Nature Center where Lookout Creek spills into the TN river at Moccasin Bend. Racoon Mountain with its amazing caverns is less than 4 miles from the house if you go west on Cummings Highway. There are also several boat drops close by if you crave a cruise of the gorgeous TN River gorge. Or, if climbing or caving is your bag, we have walls and caves galore just right past your door with the famous Sunset face and the TN wall just miles away by Signal Mountain. Finally, hikes. Hikes, hikes and more hikes to waterfalls, overlooks, historical markers - you name it, it's all right here. We are happy to point you to trail heads, swimming holes, waterfalls, climbing routes, you name it, it literally surrounds you! Then you have amazing downtown Chattanooga. Wauhatchie Woodlands is only 4.5 miles from the Tennessee Aquarium (turn left out of the drive and stay on Cummings Highway which becomes Broad and runs right to the Aquarium) and just over 3 miles to the Chattanooga Choo Choo. Downtown also boasts indoor rock climbing, an Imax 3D Theater and The Creative Discovery Museum. There are numerous delicious restaurants, multiple breweries, a chocolatier, and tons of night life. Finally, if history is what attracts you; we are located closely to where the confederates camped before they retreated to "Point Park" up Lookout Mountain Our property was in both their’s and the union's path in the Battle Above the Clouds. This was also important Cherokee land before the time of muskets and cannons. Our property literally borders Federal Park (Civil War) land on two sides and four sides if you count all our families land around. Even though our compound is literally surrounded by National Park land, it is an urban setting. It is just off US HWY 41, Cummings Highway; just about one mile before it becomes Broad Street which runs straight to the Aquarium. The property is situated at the foot of Lookout Mountain, with many rock outcroppings and fairly steep inclines upon entering the cabin park. It is an old park under steady renovation - i.e. taming the English Ivy and beautifying the shaded, deeply forested setting. We would like to mention that there are active train tracks that border the property north and I-24 is just about 1/2 mile away so there is ambient city and train noise (light sleepers may be affected, but we do have white noise machines in the cabins).

House (6500 sq. ft.) in Chattanooga, TN
2.6 miles from Raccoon Mountain Reserve
The May House is a massive 6,500 sq. ft. home located in forested land at the foot of Lookout Mountain just one mile from Chattanooga's popular South-Side. The gorgeous modern craftsman home boasts of a heated pool (late March to late Oct and shared with two other homes), a private swim spa, sauna, fire pit (shared), trailheads, four suites, a large kitchen, back deck with a hanging bed, gas grill (gas responsibility of guest), and more. The location is a hop to the mtn. or town, but sits over the river surrounded by forest. Please Note: This is not an event space. The May home is by far the largest home in Wauhatchie Woodlands and for 12 years was the May family home. This vacation dream home is flanked by national park land, with a walk to Lookout Creek, a short trail to a great TN river overlook, and just 1 mile from South Broad Street and the popular Southside district of Chattanooga. The home has everything you could want and then some, from its massive size and some HUGE bedrooms that make for great suites, as well as amenities that cannot be matched. The kitchen is open to dining, a dining bar, a living room with a wood burning fireplace and directly adjacent to the massive stunning sunroom with vaulted ceilings. You will love the real wood craftsmanship, contrast in stains and colors, and a combination of rustic and contemporary style. The sunroom exits to a spacious back deck with a swinging bed, outdoor dining and direct access to the private 14' swim spa. On the same living level, there is a beautiful bathroom shared by a queen bedroom, and the kids room with a lofted queen bed and slide. The slide room sleeps two small people up top and has a single bed below. Across the hall is a beautiful queen bedroom larger than many master bedrooms and a stunning newly renovated bathroom. This large queen room has a TV, small work desk, and seating for TV watching out of bed. On down the hall you get into the two massive loft rooms. The river facing loft room has a front deck, all windows on one side, shower room, toilet room, closet and downstairs a spacious TV den. Upstairs there are two full/twin bunks that can sleep up to six in one large suite. Then on the left, on the main level of the back loft room you will find two lofted full beds over a newly added king bed. Also on this level is a sofa, shower room, toilet room, closet and upstairs there are two workspace desks as well as a TV with daybed. So, in all, there are 4 beds in this room: two full, one king, and one twin daybed upstairs. Then downstairs is a massive 23'x25' master suite with a huge king bed, modern armoires, another wood burning stove, a 65" curved TV and a large sectional sofa. The master also has a large bathroom with two vanities, a walk-in shower, deep bathing tub, and a nice, small cedar sofa. Also on the lower living level is the exciting playroom. There is a pool table, a ping pong top, foosball table, air hockey, and TV and sofa. Down here is a small fridge and freezer for drinks or creamer for coffee in the morning taken by the master bedroom. To recap all your amenities: 1) 14' swim spa 2) Sauna 3) Pool table 4) Air hockey 5) Foosball 6) Heated pool (in-season and shared with two other homes) 7) Flagstone built-in firepit (share with two other homes) 8) Playset also shared 9) Pool-house also shared 10) Short but beautiful hike trails right out the back door 11) Large back deck with hanging bed 12) Charcoal grill 13) Three full suites out of 6 bedrooms There is a downside: trains. A CSX line runs into the Lookout Mountain tunnel just by the home, so there will be train noise. The freeway is also close-by but you will not hear that noise inside. Before going into just how close this dream vacation home is to whatever your Chattanooga led heart desires, let us note that Chattanooga has twice been voted best town ever by outdoor magazine readers. And there is no other listing so near trails, history, and city than this one. The house is exactly one mile from Ruby Falls, 2 miles from Craven's House and some great trail heads there, 5 miles from Rock City on the GA side of Lookout and literally a walk to Skyuka Springs trailhead which will connect you to Sunset Rock, Point Park, The Chattanooga Nature Center, even horse trails and bike trails such as the Guild bike Trail. The Chattanooga nature center is less than 2 miles from this home located at where Lookout Creek spills into the TN river at Moccasin Bend. We are also just 4.5 miles from the Tennessee Aquarium (which is on the road we live on), and just over 3 miles to the Chattanooga Choo Choo and just over one mile to Ruby Falls and just over three to Rock City. Racoon Mountain with the amazing caverns is less than 4 miles from the house. There are several boat drops close by if you crave a cruise of the gorgeous TN River gorge. Pet Policy: 1. We charge a $30 pet fee for each stay that includes a pet – this must be paid up front. You can pay through Airbnb (contact host) or send to us through Venmo (Wauhatchie Woodlands) 2. We require pets be kept off bedding and sofas (it’s incredibly difficult if not impossible to remove pet hair from bedding and often requires complete replacement). 3. Do not bring an aggressive animal. If there is an incident, it will be reported and you will be held responsible for the animal’s behavior/attack. 4. Failure to clear the pet, pay the fee or if you do not adhere to the pet policies by allowing pets onto furniture or bedding may result in a $75 post-stay penalty

The house is exactly one mile from Ruby Falls, 2 miles from Craven's House (which has some great trail heads), 5 miles from Rock City on the GA side of Lookout Mountain and literally a walk to Skyuka Springs trailhead.

House in Chattanooga, TN
2.9 miles from Raccoon Mountain Reserve
20 minutes from downtown (Tennessee Aquarium Imax Theater, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Ruby Falls, Rock City, and so much more) Get away from it all and still have high speed internet and multiple TVs Spacious outdoor deck with refrigerator and sitting area right next to river, three comfortable decks off the back of the house (one screened in), plus a huge attached patio with a grill and dinning table for six, a floating dock for those who bring a boat, and both bedrooms and entertainment room and kitchen overlook the Tennessee River. Just recently, renovations were made to the house that include updated bathrooms and kitchen, full paint job and new flooring in parts, and all new furniture. The key to this rental home is the setting, huge grass yard, pavilion and dock, fabulous views of the river and surrounding mountains, and tons of clean/renovated space for ten. And for full disclosure, we inspect the home inside and out just before any renters arrive, so the interior should be perfect, but there is a chance that our local spiders and bugs might build some webs in the interim so be ready to be away from the city and in nature. This cabin comfortably sleeps ten (10), with 1 king sized bed in the master bedroom on the main level with a full bath and a bunk room off the bathroom for little ones (these twin beds are in the back closet of the bathroom and should not be considered for use with adults or anyone who wants their own bedroom...think of this as a pull out couch in the greatroom...doesn't apply to everyone, but can be very useful for some), one (1) queen sized bed with it's own bathroom, and (2) twins in another bedroom upstairs (you have to go through this bedroom to get to the master....a weird layout...we agree)as well as one (1) queen sized bed with a full kitchen and bathroom in a large TV/game room with games and a pool table (all downstairs with it's own entrance). There are two fireplaces inside the home, but they are now decorative and do not burn wood or gas logs. There is an outdoor fire area on the patio, but the indoor fireplaces do not function. Maximum occupancy at all times is 10 people. This property is about 12 miles from downtown, but sometimes feels further because of the slow, narrow, winding river road. The view is fantastic however, and provides a wonderful way to slow down from hectic daily life! Swimming: The home is on the Tennessee River which is an active river with water flow. The ability to swim in front of the house depends on the amount of water flow the dam upstream is releasing. There is also a shallow cut out area downstream from the dock that allows you to get in and out easy (yes, it is muddy as it is a riverbed), but it is very gradual. I would equate the question of age and ability to swim as I would to swimming in the ocean. If there are huge waves and an undercurrent, you know to stay near the shore. If there is a lot of water flow in front of the dock, I would stay near the shore. Most of the time, it is safe for swimmers to swim off the dock and off the shore, but of course, you need to look at conditions and use your best judgement. Dock: The home has a nice dock that will hold up to a 20 foot boat easily. There are boat rental places around (as of this message, Hales Bar Marina Rents them as well as a place on Suck Creek Road (just Google Boat rentals in Chattanooga and make sure they are on the river). Also, Jesse, with River Gorge Excursions (www.rivergorgeexcursions.com) will give $20 discount if you enter "vacation" at checkout. Gas is either in Chattanooga or Hales Bar so keep that in mind. You are more than welcome to bring your boat (and that is one of the benefits of this home with a large covered dock), but as I said, keep fuel replenishment in the back of our mind. There is a nice long boat put in on the way to the home if you are coming from Chattanooga. There is plenty of room to store the trailer at the house, but it is a tight and winding road to get there, so be careful make sure you know how to pull a trailer if you bring it to the house. Grill and firewood (for the outdoor fireplace only): There is a charcoal grill on property. We have provided charcoal and firewood in the past, but some renters use it all up before we can restock, so please bring your own. If that is a challenge, let me know and I will see if we can ensure there is some for your stay. Bugs/snakes/critters/spiderwebs: I want to be very clear on this. We are obsessive about providing an extremely clean property, but this home is on the river and is out in nature, so if you see some of nature, please know that we have done our best. The home is on the river and basically surrounded by woods, so there will be spider webs and water bugs and other things found in nature. We spray all the time for bugs, and we get rid of spider webs before each guest, but they do come back. Also, if lights are left on outside next to the river, you will have a ton of waterbugs show up. If the inside has issues with any bugs, it is on us, if it is outside, then it is a gift from Him. THERE IS A LARGE CHANCE THAT YOU WILL SEE BUGS AND SPIDERWEBS OUTSIDE, ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMER....AGAIN, YOU MOST LIKELY WILL SEE BUGS AND SPIDERWEBS OUTSIDE DURING YOUR STAY. WE CANNOT STOP NATURE The Chattanooga, TN-GA Metropolitan Area, is an area consisting of six counties – three in southeast Tennessee (Hamilton, Marion, and Sequatchie) and three in northwest Georgia (Catoosa, Dade, and Walker) – anchored by the city of Chattanooga. Cabin (480 sq. ft.) in Chattanooga, TN
2.9 miles from Raccoon Mountain Reserve
Peggers is one of several quaint, tiny-home, rustic-comfort log homes on a wooded property surrounded by National Park land just a stone throw from the TN River, one mile from South Broad and Ruby Falls at the foot of Lookout Mtn. The Peggers is a "Luxury" class cabin, with higher end furniture, a pavilion over the hot tub and curtains for privacy as well as a private firepit. The spa is now in place!! Starting in the back, Peggers, is one of two cabins with a back concrete patio and pavilion over the hot tub. Just beside the pavilion is a firepit private to the Peggers cabin. Up the steps from the spa pavilion there is a spacious back deck with seating and a back entrance to the master bedroom of the cabin. We are sorry, pets are NOT allowed in this cabin Additional Information: Before going into just how close this Cabin is to whatever your Chattanooga led heart desires, let us note that Chattanooga has again; for the second time in only 5 years, won Outdoor Magazine's Best Town Ever.

Chalet (900 sq. ft.) in Chattanooga, TN
3 miles from Raccoon Mountain Reserve
Skyuka Chalet looks over the river, is surrounded by national forests with a couple of neighbors - pool, firepit, outdoor fireplace, private hot tub, heaps of outdoor dining as well as a pool house with workout room. Just 1 mile to South Broad at the foot of Lookout Mountain.1 mile from Ruby Falls,4 miles from the TN Aquarium. ****Please be aware that we are not an event space and the pool/firepit area is shared space to be enjoyed but not equipped or available for private party use. The space The space is inspiring - a great fusion of imagination, modernity, and a woodsy rustic feel that organically compliments the area (surrounded by US National Forest). You will enter from the back using a private drive. The hot tub is on the lower back deck before you ascend to the main living area above the workout area. The master bedroom is private with direct access to the bathroom and the living space is open, with high, vaulted wood ceilings and dynamic lighting for any mood. The kitchen is full service, though a roughly two butt kitchen opening to the common space and dining area. There is a unique loft service by spiral stairs that has bunks, fans, closet, reading sconces and a striking surround of high windows and a crown vaulted ceiling. The main level deck wraps around the entire home, offering seating in front, views over the pool and river, and a large back deck with dining for six and deep seating to retire too when weather permits. Guests have access to a shared washer and dryer on the ground level, as well as a common workout room, poolside showers and toilets and free access to the heating and stunning pool and poolside living area complete with a large gas fireplace and woodburn surround firepit. These amenities are shared by three two other homes. This is not only a stunning gem of a home, but a true forested resort just a tiny hop from downtown Chattanooga. One important thing to note - while this home is tucked into the woods and literally surrounded by national forest and the TN river, the freeway runs close by and there is a CSX and Norfolk Southern rail line that pass near the property. Consequently, this would best be described as a secluded, wooded, urban retreat. For very light sleepers, the trains can be a hindrance, but most of our guests hardly notice the trains unless they are dining outside or swimming poolside as one passes. Interaction with guests We live next door, so you are likely to run into us. We are perfectly accessible and responsive though not intrusive at all. You may very well spend time poolside with our family or guests in the other house on the grounds, and we do enjoy getting to know our guests in this comfortable and fun context. The pool is shared by all three homes on the five acres.
